Every renovation has a moment where the wheels quietly come off.
It usually isn't the budget. It isn't the builder. It's a Saturday afternoon at a showroom, where you find something you love and decide it's going in.
The tile that was supposed to be a maybe becomes a yes. The benchtop you weren't sure about gets locked in because you're tired and the appointment is tomorrow. Each decision feels small. None of them are.
A finish chosen in isolation doesn't show its problems until everything else arrives. By then, you're not changing it. You'll live with it for fifteen years and you'll know, every time you walk past, that something isn't quite right.
You won't be able to name it. You'll just feel it.
This is the most expensive mistake we see, and it's the easiest one to avoid.
